I think that this is awesome, but doesn’t go quite far enough with the “British Rule 2.0” metaphor. The entire history of the US has been the tug of war between the people who really believed in the Declaration of Independence and the Preamble to the Constitution, on the one side, and those loyal to the British way of doing business on the other. In that latter category we have Wall Street, the Confederate States of America, and the present day oligarchy which consolidated power rapidly after the deaths of FDR and JFK. Our Ivy League schools are cloned from Cambridge and Oxford; our corporate media are to a large extent megaphones for the British ones, particularly for the purposes of selecting and demonizing the next “regime change” war targets. It’s funny that the US State Department brays so much about democracy, and then our three closest allies are two monarchies and a theocracy.
